Pine escaped the jaws of death when she and her babies were rescued from the Kumamoto authorities in late 2018. Her puppies were all eventually adopted, but Pine, sadly, has been unable to find a home of her own — which makes her one of ARK’s longest-tenured residents.

Her being overlooked likely has to do with her shyness. Pine takes a while to warm up to people, which is not a plus for those shopping for a pup based on first impressions only.

Though she takes some time to warm up to people, Pine is a sweet dog that enjoys going on walks and spending time at the dog run.

It takes time for Pine to come around. For instance, she needed many months before she could go on a proper walk, but now she absolutely loves them. She also enjoys the dog run, where she’ll race around like a puppy despite being over 10 years old.

With a strong hunting instinct, Pine loves to chase frogs and snakes and has a penchant for digging holes. She’s a super sweet dog with soulful eyes that just needs someone to scoop her up, hold her tight and love her.
